General Conference...you gotta love it!

Oh, what a wonderful weekend it has been! Don't you just love General Conference? To participate in a "solemn assembly" and sustain a new prophet of God was amazing! Every speaker seemed to have a message just for me and I grew to LOVE President Uchtdorf (I already had a soft spot for President Eyring, and of course for President Monson)!. I loved how down to earth President Monson was during the last session; so dang funny, but also so sweet and to the point. Here's a few pictures showing our family enjoying this Conference Weekend...
Kelsie and I started the morning off with a fresh batch of cinnamon rolls (before you start thinking that I'm Miss Molly Homemaker, remember, I make the dough in the bread maker!)...

Kaycee and Briana listened intently to our Church leaders as they played Conference Bingo...

Brian was "listening with his eyes closed"...

I know that our Church is definitely inspired of God, because we get this awesome spiritual rejuvination every 6 months! General Conference is always so uplifting to me and it comes just at the right time...when I'm starting to feel inadequate as a mother, as a visiting teacher, as a Young Women leader, as a wife, as a member of society. The prophet and General Authorities speak to me, make me feel loved, and give me that little push that I need to continue moving forward. I hope you all enjoyed it too!

We enjoyed conference also, it was just difficult trying to listen with the crazies running about, we had one screaming at the top of his lungs Cowabunga as he does a flying leap off the couch onto his brother and the little guy screaming trying to escape, anyway, we had a great conference, I enjoyed watching it the same way Brian did!!!

I totally agree with you about conference. It was totally amazing! I too loved participating in the solemn assembly. The spirit was so strong when we got to each stand at our different times. Cool!!!!

I agree! I'm still just bugged that I wasn't there in PERSON! Waah me! Hey, one of Brooklyn and Kenna's teachers says they have a tradition of taking the Conference Weekend to hit General Conference & then a Jazz game. Doesn't that sound like something we should incorporate? Hmm.... We'll have to plan that one...

These are great pics of your conference day! I'm so glad our parents made us listen, so now we love it and want to! You said all the things I think too, I needed the rejuvination for sure! And Kory watches the same way as Brian...silly boys!

What a great post, Karm! Conference is one of my favorite times of the year, and I thought the talks were directed straight to me, because they were things I needed to hear. I especially appreciated Elder Ballard's talk on Mothers. Loved it! I laughed and laughed at President Monson's last talk, too. I've always loved him, and love that he's now our prophet! Oh, and I don't care if you did make the dough for your cinnamon rolls in a bread maker - you are a holly homemaker, and I wish I were more like you (Mike wishes that, too...)!

Great post on conference, Karmen--I loved it. I think conference is just what we all need. I loved the talks you all loved as well--the talk on mothers was so neat (I told all my family to listen up because this talk was about me...), President Eyring was so tender; President Uchdorf was endearing; President Monson was amazing and so lovable. We are really lucky to have this chance to be led and guided.

Wow... I think it runs in a boys blood to "listen with their eyes closed" because my dad did that same thing! So we'd say "Dad get up" and he was like "I am not sleeping!" However, we did catch him snoring for a while...

Seeing these pictures of you and your adorable girls makes me miss you! It has been way too long since we have gotten together. We needs to make some plans ASAP! And I totally agree with you. Conference is always so uplifting. i have had to watch the tivo to catch up. 2 little ones makes it hard to listen to every word. But that is why I love tivo. I have been able to watch a talk a night since. It has been wonderful.

Yep, we caught Wally listening with his eyes closed for awhile! It was so funny, he'd snore and it would make him jump and wake him up. Then he'd look over at me guiltily because he realized that he'd been asleep. It was funny! We were tempted to paint a few of his toenails, but we weren't brave enough.

I agree about conference. It is just so uplifting and good. I don't see how you can listen to these good people and not feel their genuine love and concern. I know that they are apostles of God, just like back in the Savior's time, and President Monson was so wonderful! Aren't we so blessed! I love you cous! You really have a cute family!

Conference was really wonderful. Miles and I got to watch live all the way over here in England on our computers. Gotta love technology!
And that's such a large TV you have. Wouldn't mind watching conference on that thing!!
